From Fig Leaves to Final Judgment… The Good Book Just Got Better!

It’s apocalypse now as the three cultural guerrillas of The Reduced Shakespeare Company set their reductive sites on the good book with The Bible: The Complete Word of God (abridged). Can bolts of lightning be far behind?

Yes, it’s an affectionate, irreverent roller coaster ride from fig leaves to Final Judgment as the boys tackle the great theological questions: Did Adam and Eve have navels? Did Moses really look like Charlton Heston? And why isn’t the word “phonetic” spelled the way it sounds?

Whether you are Catholic or Atheist, Muslim or Jew, Protestant or Purple People Eater, you will be tickled by the RSC’s romp through old time religion. Remember… Someone is watching.

“The Reduced Shakespeare Company production of The Bible is absolutely outrageous and absolutely wonderful. It’s totally irreverent and I think anyone who sees it is going to have a whale of a good time.” Robert Brustein – Founding Director, American Repertory Theatre

“There is no doubt about it, these three lads are in a league of their own when it comes to vivid originality both in the show itself and its performance. They have sublime moments of surreal theatricality. Sly minds are at work throughout.” Jack Tinker – The London Daily Mail

Bible 4 RSC

“The audience dissolved hysterically into the aisles. The troupe’s obvious comic forbears include the Mark Brothers (wordplay and irreverence), the Flying Karamazov Brothers (madcap performance comedy) and vaudeville as reinvented by “Laugh-In” (pace and schtick).”

Ron Weiskind – Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

“This is a slick, fast, very funny show. They are skilled performers with i

mmaculate, sassy American timing.”

Robert HewisonThe London Sunday Times

“Be forewarned: this play is not for you if you don’t enjoy laughing

continuously for two hours until you soak through all the Kleenex in your pocket with mirthful tears. This is one of the funniest evenings I’ve spent in a theater.”

Ellen Pfiefer – The Boston Phoenix

The RSC put the “fun” back in fundamentalism.”

J. Wynn Rousuck Baltimore Sun

“This miracle of miniaturization is slick, fast and funny. This threesome’s seamless patter evokes the spirit of vaudeville.” Nick Curtis – The London Evening Standard

“Pure fun. The troupe seems more anarchic than ever.” Nelson Pressley – The Washington Times

“Not even the most sombre, uptight Scientologist could take offence at this snappy, slick and utterly entertaining show.”

Scottish Sunday Express

“Very funny, energetic, and unpredictable.” San Francisco Bay Guardian

“The Bible: The Complete Word of God (abridged) is a brilliant mix of astute comedy, light theology, and mild heresy. If you’ve seen the RSC before, you’ll need no encouragement to to this brilliant show. If you haven’t, find out what you’ve been missing.” Robert Hutton-Squire – Edinburgh Evening News

“Another relentlessly enjoyable romp.”

Brian Logan – The Guardian, London

“It is as if Penn and Teller had met Tom Lehrer and combined their respective talents. A wonderful sense of comedy is combined with a sharply written satirical text. Do not miss them.” Richard Edmonds – The Birmingham Post, Great Britain

“In the beginning, God created the heaven and the earth and lo, The Reduced Shakespeare Company came to spread the word. And the word was brilliant. The result is one hour and forty minutes of non-stop, undiluted laughter which will make you reach for your wallets to see it again. Comedy fans will think they’re in heaven. This show is fantastic. Go and see it.”

Francesca Glyn-Jones – Worcester Evening News, Great Britain

“I crawled from my seat, sides aching from laughing at just under two hours of zany, crazy, but oh-so-clever madness. Sell your house, sell your granny but do whatever you can to get a ticket – it’s one holy roller of a night.”

Evesham Journal – Great Britain

“Two hours of non-stop silliness. It is simply a nutty two hours of fun.” Alan Field – WLG Radio, Baltimore

“It’s crazy. It’s zany. And a little Profane-y.” Sister Mary Ann Walsh –

Arlington C

atholic Herald, Virginia

“It can be said with no small amount of enthusiasm, Go See This Show. Dare we say it? They’re funnier than Hell.” Ron Holmstrom – The Anchorage Press

“This is a trio of incredible comedians, blessed with a rare sense of timing and rapport. The laughs come like a flood. Before you finish laughing at the first joke, you find yourself laughing at the next one.” Ma’ariv News – Jerusalem
