Your host, Nick Wills welcomes on February 24th 2018:

Gareth Richards

In October 2004 Gareth Richards did his first ever gig aboard the Wibbly
Wobbly boat, a notorious venue compered by alternative comedy veteran
Malcolm Hardy. After his set Malcolm shook his hand and said, “Was that
really your first gig?”

“Yes.” Said Gareth.

Malcolm said, “Yeah, I thought it was.”

Gareth Richards’ hilarious stand-up, silly jokes and gorgeously low-key
comedy songs have made him an instant favourite on the comedy circuit. In
2010 he was nominated for Foster’s Edinburgh Comedy Award Best Newcomer.

Gareth has appeared on Russell Howard’s Good News, Live at the Electric
(BBC3) and in January performed live on Radio 1 on two separate occasions.
Gareth co-hosted Frank Skinner’s Sony award-winning Absolute Radio show for
two years and supported Frank on his 2014 tour.

“A delightful hour of comedy”

“Clever craftsman with a big future”
Bruce Dessau, The Evening Standard

“An effortlessly assured act… exceptionally inspired and truly memorable.”
Steve Bennett, Chortle

Alfie Moore

Alfie is an original and distinctive comedian with his niche area as a
serving police sergeant. He came slightly later to comedy and brings a
wealth of insights and comedy moments from his eighteen years on the beat,
where a keen sense of humour has been the key to his success and survival!

Born and raised on a council estate in Sheffield he was an apprentice in
the steelworks before joining the Police where he has served for eighteen
years, gathering a wealth of hilarious stories that you ‘just couldn’t make
up’.

Alfie was inspired to take up stand-up comedy in 2007 after his first taste
of live comedy at a local comedy club. He quickly became well and truly
hooked and was soon performing regularly up and down the country.

He has an observational comedic style, which lends itself to witty, and
sometimes gritty, anecdotes based on everyday modern policing. He also is an
adept socio-political commentator and weaves this all together with his take
on the ‘comedy gold’ of life.

He has six times written and performed his own one-man show at the
Edinburgh Fringe Festival, including ‘I PREDICTED A RIOT’ which he has
toured nationally and his critically acclaimed show ‘VIVA ALF’S VEGAS’.  In
August 2014 he debuted his brand new stand-up show ‘THE NAKED STUN’ in
Edinburgh where it was a total sell-out for the full Festival run.
http://alfiemoore.com/standup/the-2015-uk-tour-the-naked-stun/will be
touring the UK in the autumn of 2015. Alfie has also supported Sarah
Millican, Russell Kane and Milton Jones on their national comedy tours.

His brand new show for Edinburgh 2015
http://alfiemoore.com/standup/edinburgh-2015/tells of his dismay at the
systematic dismantling of what he considers to be the finest police force in
the world. He shares his hilarious plan to resuscitate the ever shrinking
‘thin blue blue’ and change the face of British policing for ever.

Alfie was one of the stars of ‘Show Me The Funny’ (ITV) and wrote and
presented ‘Alfie Moore’s Almanac’ for BBC Radio. More recently he has been
featured on The Wright Stuff (Channel 5), Comic Relief, Sky News, BBC Radio
4’s Idiots Guide to Crime and Punishment, BBC Look North, ITV Calendar,
Bizarre Crime (BBC 3), and Confessions of a Police Officer (Channel 4). His
new BBC Radio 4 comedy series

Following exceptional feedback a second series was commissioned and airs on
Thursdays from 18th June 2015 in the coveted 6.30pm comedy slot.
