Humour can be found in virtually every situation.

This is why it should come as no surprise that the host of BBC Radio 4’s Goes to Market and star of BBC1’s Live at the Apollo, Simon Evans, has garnered material from the realms of high finance after immersing himself in economics for the last couple of years.

Like a pig immersing itself in organic cleansing elements he has unpicked why the French don’t want to own their own home; why mass spectrometers reveal Americans to literally be made of corn;, and why Alco-Synth – the effects of alcohol but with an effective antidote – is not likely to be appearing at a wine bar near you in the near future, despite having been invented years ago.

This is a show that starts with lofty aspirations but, unlike a bottle of fine wine that matures with time, the whole thing deteriorates swiftly into a heartfelt rant about his children.

Book early to avoid disappointment is the advice as tickets are expected to sell fast for this show.

Also new Simon Evans’ DVD – Live at the Theatre Royal

Simon Evans’ debut DVD is a master class in aloof, patrician observational stand up. To the delight of a packed audience, the star of Live At The Apollo and Stand Up For The Week brings a little polish to the Theatre Royal Brighton. Evans looks back at his life and times, from his early days in London to his family life by the seaside. Along the way, his reflections are as ever as dry and delicious as a good Sancerre, or perhaps a really good radish.

SIMON EVANS: IN THE MONEY

UK Tour 2016

Host of BBC Radio 4’s Goes to Market and star of BBC1’s Live at the Apollo, Simon Evans has been immersing himself in economics for the last couple of years, like a pig immersing itself in organic cleansing elements. He has unpicked why the French don’t want to own their own home (sex, obvs), why mass spectrometers reveal Americans to literally be made of corn, and why Alco-Synth – the effects of alcohol but with an effective antidote – is not likely to be appearing at a wine bar near you in the near future, despite having been invented years ago. As usual the whole thing deteriorates swiftly into a heartfelt rant about his children but these are at least the lofty aspirations he starts with this time.

Simon is a regular on Radio 4 The News Quiz, The Unbelievable Truth, Armando Iannucci’s Charm Offensive and anchored and wrote seven series of the news satire The Way It Is.  Evans has appeared on numerous tv shows including: being a regular on C4’s Stand Up For The Week, BBC’s Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow, Live At The Apollo, The Apprentice: You’re Fired! and Mock the Week.   He is also a prolific writer for radio and tv, his credits include: Not Going Out (BBC1) and 8 Out Of 10 Cats (C4) amongst many others.  He appeared on University Challenge:The Professionals in 2007.  Simon was a contestant on Celebrity Mastermind, where his specialist subject was Ernest Shackleton and the Endurance.
