On reaching a landmark stage in his life the regular BBC1 Have I Got News for You panelist – and the winner of Columnist of the Year at the 2015 Press Awards for his weekly column in The Independent – is taking a wry inward look into the person that is, or could be, Mark Steel.
After the birth of his son this surprising story is about the man who previously was not really bothered that he’d never met his own mum. Neither had it occurred to him that he needed to meet her to ‘find out who he was’, as it didn’t seem likely he’d discover he was someone different to who he thought he was. “Could it turn out I was three stone lighter than I thought, or I spoke Italian or supported Arsenal or had a fear of Liquorice Allsorts?”
Described in the Sunday Times as ‘Profound yet funny’ and reviewed in The Guardian as ‘he has got an amazing tale to tell’ his show was given a 4-star rating by both. Mark delivers his enthralling story with aplomb and is, according to The Independent, ‘essential viewing’.
Early booking is advised as this promises to be a sell-out show.
