The songs and life of the songwriter and pianist George Gershwin are brought to life in I Got Gershwin!.
This specially prepared two act ‘ scripted ‘ themed show directs the spotlight onto the man responsible for introducing many songs into the American Songbook. Performed by Robert Habermann to music arrangement by top arrangers the show includes memorable songs I Got Rhythm, They All Laughed, Summertime, It Ain’t Necessarily So and many others from the opera Porgy and Bess.
Entertaining and informative the show features stories and anecdotes about the composer who wrote his first huge hit – Swanee – on a bus in twenty minutes in 1919. The audience will hear about the composer’s lifelong collaboration with his brother Ira, with whom he wrote such great songs and shows for iconic dancer Fred Astaire, to the tragic end when Gershwin’s life was suddenly cut short at the age of 37.
I Got Gershwin! Is a show that will delight and entertain everyone who enjoys the popular songs that were written for the Broadway theatre, musical theatre, and Hollywood musical films from the 1920s to the 1950s.
