Josh Pugh

Offbeat ideas, strong imagery and dry observational asides, he finds laughs in unusual places. A promising voice Steve Bennett (Chortle)

From his very first gig in May 2014, English Comedian of the Year 2016 Josh Pugh has gained a proven track record of being a winner.

He won that Funhouse gong show and has since gone on to win Birmingham Comedy Festival Breaking Talent Award 2015 and the Nottingham Comedy Festival New Act of the Year Award 2015. In between he somehow won Midland New Act of the Year in both 2014 and 2015 (we don’t know how it works either). This year, he came 3rd in the NATYS (formerly Hackney New Empire Comedian of the Year) before going on to win English Comedian of the Year 2016.

Winner – Birmingham Comedy Festival Breaking Talent Award 2015

A keen comic mind. Bruce Dessau (London Evening Standard)

But that’s enough about his multiple award-winning status. More importantly, he’s funny. That’s why he does well in competitions, with confident and clever writing that takes you off on glorious tangents. Steve Bennett of Chortle.co.uk calls him a “promising voice” who “finds laughs in unusual places” whilst The Londonest says he’s “pleasingly off the beaten track”. Josh has a unique, interesting and funny voice with a very exciting future.
