From FRI 9th to SAT 10th – 1st International Kettering Comedy Festival! KETTFEST @ Kettering Arts Centre June 2017

Friday 9th June From 8pm – Doors open 7:30pm

8pm Paul Kerensa

Award-winning comedian Paul Kerensa has no bellybutton. Never had one. What’s the point? He keeps his fluff in his pockets. In a world divided into innies and outies – Paul is a smoothie. Hear tales of bellybuttonlessness, step-bladders, and how a bottle can save motorway toilet stops (so long as you save the lid), from the British Comedy Award-winning writer for BBC’s Miranda, Not Going Out, Top Gear, C4’s TFI Friday, R4’s The Now Show and Dead Ringers… ‘Ingenious’ – Evening Standard

9.30pm Howard Read

Big Howard and Little Howard are the world’s first and only human/cartoon double-act. But being a grown-up has snuck up on Big Howard, and Little Howard has remained unchanged. How does one tackle the harsh realities of adult life artistically when your co-star wants to close the show on his fart-psychic routine?

Perrier-nominated Big Howard and Little Howard have graced stage and screen all over the world, won a Writer’s Guild Award and can reverse-park a caravannette. Howard Read is also a stand-up who writes for classic kids’ TV shows like Horrible Histories and Danger Mouse.   “Incredibly, achingly funny.” The Daily Mail.

Ticket Prices: £4 per event (Available from the front desk only)

Weekend pass: £20 (Please see bottom of page for purchasing options)

Saturday 10th  June From 2pm – Doors open 1:30pm

2pm Josh Pugh  A Boy Named Pugh

Debut show from current English Comedian of the Year Josh Pugh, who won the much-coveted title after just two years of performing, establishing him as one of the UK’s brightest newcomers. Join him for an hour of left-field ideas as he invites us onto a very tame roller coaster ride through his childhood, much-loathed job and journey into showbiz. An hour of surreal autobiographical comedy. Chortle Comedian to Watch 2017. ‘A keen comic mind’ (BeyondTheJoke.co.uk). ‘Pleasingly off the beaten track’ (Londonist.com). ‘A peculiarly offbeat mind… certain future star’ (Chortle.co.uk).

3.15pm Elliot Steel

Conspiracy theorist Elliot Steel has grown up a lot in the last year. Join him for his hilarious views on growing up, before the Illuminati murder him and make it look like an accident.

4.30pm  Angela Barnes

Angela Barnes (Mock The Week, BBC R4’s The News Quiz, host of Newsjack on BBC R4Extra) is back with her brand new show.

“She’s just a gloriously down-to-earth, straight talking and extremely funny comic” The Guardian

6.30pm Dan Antopolski

Triple Edinburgh Comedy Award nominee returns ‘as inventive as ever’ (Guardian) with his eighth solo stand-up hour about change, pain, honour and gain. Dave’s Funniest Joke of the Edinburgh Fringe Award winner. As heard on Radio Four. ‘Spectacular displays of verbal pyrotechnics’ (Observer).

He returned to the Edinburgh Festival with his new show, Get the Political Party Started, which enjoyed a sell-out run in the prestigious Cabaret Bar, before going on to run for a week at Soho Theatre.

Matt’s monthly residency in London, The Political Party, sells-out Westminster’s St James’ Theatre. Alongside Matt’s trademark topical current affairs stand-up, the show brings Parliament to life as he interviews some of politics’ most notorious figures, past guests have included Tony Blair, Alastair Campbell, Nigel Farage, Michael Portillo, Dame Tessa Jowell, John Prescott, Alan Johnson, David Davis, Stella Creasy, Jack Straw and George Galloway. The show is also released as a podcast which has amassed over 500,000 downloads on Soundcloud, hit the top spot of the iTunes comedy chart, was picked as the Daily Telegraph’s podcast of the week, and was nominated for the Internet Award in the 2015 Chortle Awards.

9.30pm Simon Munnery

‘One of the most tirelessly silly stalwarts of the Fringe’ (Time Out), Simon Munnery provides tales of plumbing woes, his attempts at under tent heating and ridicules the insanity of capitalism.
