The utterly charming Harry Bird and his wonderful band, the Rubber Wellies will be returning to play acoustic tunes ranging from the soulful to the joyful sing-a-long. Based in Bilbau, Groningen and Dublin, this fantastic band wowed the audience last Summer and so we are delighted to welcome them back again.

Listen & watch here their beautiful song “ain’t got far to go”

The band is made up of singer-songwriter guitarist Harry Bird and the multi- tasking “Wellies”, Christophe Capewell (fiddle and such) and Patrick Durkan (percussion and that). Though now based on the continent, they all hail originally from the UK, where they first met as students in the North of England. Functioning simultaneously as a circus band in Spain, they have made their home for the night in cafes, pubs, theatres, cabarets, festivals, squats and churches alike!bones on black
“Long Way to be Free”, a home grown collection of songs exploring love, faith and displacement in a contradictory world of loss and laughter, was the fruit of an original line up that included Irish singer and artist Maria Blackwell. It was recorded over five months in five different countries and was released on their own label Hot Drop Records in December 2009.
Their second album, Bones on Black was recorded mostly live over ten days in the front room of a big old house in Lincoln, England, and was released in March 2012.
This wonderful album was the soundtrack to our summer spent driving through France & Spain and it was perfect, featuring songs in English, French & Spanish!
